Public Art Events

The Edmonton Arts Council is pleased to offer a variety of information sessions and professional development workshops to the Edmonton arts community. Past workshops have included public art 101 presentations, information sessions for upcoming public art projects, public art community workshop sessions and more.

The Edmonton Arts Council also hosts unveiling and artist talks in celebration of new works of public art. Visit this page for information about upcoming events.

New for 2017
Public Art Picnics - Borden Park

Experience art al fresco in one of Edmonton's loveliest parks

The Edmonton Arts Council is serving up art, artists & summertime treats on August 24, 2017 at Borden Park.

Running from 5:30-8:00pm, this event offers an opportunity to meet the women artists behind the new sculptures now adorning the footpaths and formal gardens within the park.

Sandra Bromley, Kasie Campbell, Agnieszka Koziarz, & Susan Owen Kagan will be on hand to guide you through the stories, fun facts, and inspirations behind their artworks.

Attendance is free, and snacks from Fat Franks are provided. Enjoy a gourmet hot dog or veggie dog with all the fixings and a pop - additional items will be available for purchase.

This event is the first in a series of three events to be hosted by the Edmonton Arts Council. More details TBA for the following two events:

Join us on Thursday, September 14 from 5:30-8:00pm at Whitemud Equine Learning Centre Association to experience the woodburning art of Black Artifex, live music, and refreshments.

The final event takes place on Sunday, September 17 at Terwillegar Dog Park for hot dogs and dog treats as you meet Royden Mills, the artist behind Resonant Progression - the new artwork currently being installed in the park.

#YEGCanvas; a citywide billboard and LRT station-based art exhibition

Developed by the Edmonton Arts Council in partnership with Pattison Outdoor Advertising, #YEGCanvas; a citywide billboard and LRT station-based art exhibition ,features art spanning a diversity of genres and disciplines including digital media, ceramics, photography, watercolour, acrylic, drawing, and fine craft.

Artworks were chosen from more than 120 submissions. Until April, 2017, the artworks will be displayed on 10 billboards, located throughout the city, and on 15 LRT station posters along the Capital and Metro Lines.
